He did his Ph.D. as a University Research Scholar of Calcutta University after he completed his Master in Business Management at the University College of Business studies as the topper of the batch. Dr. Saha was awarded a Certificate of Merit in Computer Programming by the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Attended Risk Management Programme of the International Centre for Monetary and Banking Studies (ICMB), Geneva held at Zurich, Switzerland, International Securities Lending and REPO Programme of the International Quality and Productivity Centre and ISMA at London and Credit Analysis and Problem Loan Management Programme of the New York Institute of Finance at Singapore.

He has four decades of distinguished research, teaching, publications, and consulting experience in the realm of banking and finance. He was appointed as the Director of the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), an apex institution of banking set up as a ‘Think-tank’ for the Indian Banking system by the Reserve Bank of India. As the Head of the institution, he has instituted the first-ever Post Graduate Programme in Banking and Finance in the country, giving the institute a new identity. Established collaborative Leadership Development Programme with the Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, Stanford Graduate School of Business, California, USA, to groom CEOs of the public sector banks in the country. He headed major consulting projects on organisational restructuring, risk management, and the merger of banks in the country. As a Visiting Professor in the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), he was awarded major research projects by the Hong Leong Bank, a large Private Bank in Malaysia, CEDAR of the SME Development Bank of Malaysia, and multiple research grants under the High Impact Group Research Grant, and the Fundamental Research Grant of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Malaysian Government. He was the Chief Editor of the International Journal of Banking and Finance of UUM. He was appointed as an Economic Expert in the Consulting Centre for Finance and Investment, Riyadh, and was the Associate Editor of the journal Saudi Stock Market and Joint Stock Companies.

He has an extensive publication record, including publications in reputed international academic journals like the European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Commodity Markets, Journal of Sustainable Cities and Society, Research in International Business and Finance, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Economic Studies, International Journal of Emerging Markets, International Journal of Bank Marketing, Journal of Risk Finance, International Journal of Business and Economics. He has supervised dissertations of students who were awarded Ph.D. degree by the Pune University and was awarded Fellowship by the National Institute of Bank Management. He has evaluated many Ph.D. dissertations and D.Lit. dissertation. He was a Member of the ALCO of two major Indian public sector banks. Dr. Saha was Appointed as a Non-official Part-time Director in the Board of UCO Bank by the Department of Baking Services, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India.
